Growtheatre’s Youth Theatre has been bubbling with creativity and fun this term.
Our Senior Group devised and performed their work for family and friends in May. They produced some remarkable work, which explored how complex and varied the concept of power is. Using masks is a particular kind of skill, our young people needed to think carefully how to portray the quality of a character through the design of their mask and embrace the challenges of working with masks. This required them to be really thoughtful about how to use their bodies in space to communicate the narrative of their plays and ideas that were weaved into them. They really worked hard on getting their physicality right and producing choral moments and what was extremely impressive was doing this with using little or no language. We were super proud of them and we hope their family and friends were too! The photos below are of their show.
Our Junior and Intermediate Groups are all working hard devising, designing, directing and performing for their shows, which will all take place in Ecclesall Woods in June and July – we are very excited about sharing their achievements and incredible work – watch this space for news of how they did!
