It feels so good to be back in Ecclesall Woods doing what we love most here at Growtheatre! We have been lucky enough to not only be back as a Youth Theatre since September but we have returned to the wonderful Ecclesall Woods! There is nothing better than playing games, exploring nature and creating drama … it makes it even better that we manage to take all three groups out into the woods to have some wonderful adventures and lots of fun.
This past half term we have been incredibly blown away by all three groups, their determination and dedication to coming to each session raring to learn and laugh makes us incredibly proud. This past term, our Seniors have been focusing on Physical Theatre, we couldn’t be more impressed by their efforts already!
We began the term learning all about the art of Physical Theatre and how to overcome those pesky nerves of not feeling afraid to really go for it in front of our peers. There is a lot more to physical theatre than just dancing; it requires concentration, team work and most importantly trust. From day one, the group have thrown themselves into the sessions, grasping the exercises with both hands and giving it 100% effort each time. Some exercises have been more challenging than others, but the way the group thrive off one another really inspired them to persevere and keep going. We will continue their work on Physical Theatre when we return and we are already really looking forward to picking this back up with them. We know it isn’t everyone’s favourite subject to look at, but so far, from what we have seen, we are incredibly proud of every single member for stepping out of their comfort zone and for giving it their best effort.
