Last night, Growtheatre’s Senior Group took to the stage for a special Playback Theatre Night, and what a night it was! They explored the many forms of Playback Theatre, improvising performances based on real stories shared by the audience. With a mix of humour, sincerity, and creativity, they brought these stories to life in a way that was both entertaining and deeply respectful.
A huge thank you to Alex, Emma, Louis, and Zoe for bravely sharing their stories—it was a privilege to hear them. We journeyed through a whirlwind of real-life events, from an unexpected medical emergency involving four-year-old twins, an ambulance dash and a very nonchalant ambulance crew, to a teenager’s party where a friend mysteriously (and hilariously) vanished into the night with a scream! We also relived the chaos of a guide kayaking trip, where the leader, trying to rescue a lost loom band bracelet, capsized. Each tale was brought to life with energy, quick thinking, and a deep sense of ensemble work, making every moment on stage funny, charming, and unforgettable.
Their improvisation skills were outstanding, showcasing quick thinking, strong collaboration, and a genuine connection with each story. From moments of laughter to heartfelt reflections, they embodied the essence of Playback Theatre beautifully.
A huge well done to our Senior Group—you represented Playback Theatre brilliantly!
