At Growtheatre Youth Theatre we work hard to provide our members with a wide-range of skills connected to outdoor skills and making theatre.
What will I learn at Growtheatre Youth Theatre?
Junior Group: members will learn about different approaches to drama and performing outdoors, how to design their own costumes, props and sets and we also introduce them to some aspects of stage management. They will also learn about working near a fire and basic tool work.
Intermediate Group: as our members progress they will develop their theatre-making and devising skills and also explore how they can work with light and sound to add impact to performances. Intermediates who prefer not to perform in our shows take a lead in design and stage management. They all will learn how to make fire and how to use a knife, loppers and saw when working with wood.
Senior Group: by this stage, we encourage members to develop a whole-range of skills, according to their interests; in the past we have had young directors, script writers, designers, choreographers, film-makers, marketing team, lighting designers and stage managers.
From time to time, opportunities to collaborate on creative projects with other organisations presents itself and we encourage members to get involved. Most recently, members have been involved in the following projects:
- The Show Must Go On – Sheffield Adventures
- When This is Over, Stage 1 – Company Three
- A Bit of Earth – Bare Project
- Coronavirus Time Capsule – Company Three
Other opportunities…
We also share other creative opportunities, that members can apply to get involved with as they arise.
